It was stormy today and after the rain, the sun peeked through the clouds. Finally, a chance to get out for a walk.
We walked along the western trail and there was quiet, no one around. I was a little hesitant on the trail this day because that’s where my neighbor told me that they had seen the bear. We never had bear in the area before.
They had always been around our campsites further north but only looked for food and left. I don’t know how to process a bear. A bear…….
Walking on the path that looped around the north west side, there’s lots of forest and brush. I actually had seen the bear above me on a hillside trail the week before. I had wondered if it was a dog, Maybe a Newfoundland, I thought, walking across a property. But, the neighbor later confirmed, it’s a bear.
On the trail, there are rows of peony and then a creek on one side. As we were walking along I heard a low growl from the brush. I walked on and looked back but there was nothing.
Walking up the hill, the rabbit darted out. I saw the white tail head towards the pines. I’m always so happy to see rabbit. They live in the tall grass by the gravel road. As I walked further up and looked back, there was a little brown object in the grass. It stood perfectly still. Am I imagining things I thought? I moved further up the hill so I could get a better vantage point to look down at it. There was no mistaking, rabbits baby!!! How happy!
