Home is not a place

Winter is a time to turn inward. I appreciate the stillness of a snowy day. The quiet as the snow lands on the earth is comforting. A blanket under which we hear our own thoughts more clearly.

December reminds me that a new year is approaching. I clean out my desk, my closets, and the house. Freeing my space of clutter feels right. Out with anything that is stagnant or unnecessary. I pass items I can no longer use to someone who can.

The new year is like the fresh snow on the ground. There are no footsteps in the snow. The snow is unmarked and so is our journey into January. The year is full of quiet possibilities. We just have to take those first steps.

The choices we make build the house we live in. Home is not a physical place. It’s the places and people we choose, the words we speak, the habits and goals we set. Our characteristics shape the emotional space where we feel safe and grounded. Home is what creates the joy within us. It is the place where we are fully alive.

Home is our centeredness, our focus and inner peace. The New Year reminds us that it’s time to reset, realign, renew, reflect. We consider what is, what was and what can be. Change is now on the table.

We set intentional goals to start the year with. We have crafted a new purpose and direction. These aspirations need our attention and effort to move us forward. There is so much possibility ahead of us.

The future is wide open and limited only by our belief in it. We start new beginnings and chapters. Anticipation and hope for blessings solict joy. The new year brings us home to our inner voice. The voice that is ordinarily silenced by the demands of our daily committments and routine.

We can now go home to our aspirations and possibilities. We pause to remember our intentions, are we where we should be? It’s a reminder to return to who we are. To move out from under the weight of the parts of our lives that are stagnant.

We reconnect, reflect and recall. We step into the quiet introspection of the past years journey. We think about what needs rebuilding and what we should release. We understand what we focus on matters.

New goals and intentions are set. It’s time to create, inovate, expand. It’s time for endings too. We have to move on and grow into these new directions. The feeling of hope, renewal and happiness feel like home. We are allowed to dream and start anew.

The new year reminds us that purpose and direction are catalysts. With a sense of purpose, we set creative dreams and long held goals into action.   We will make them realities. It’s our rebirth and new objectives and purpose create happiness. Home is the quiet bliss we feel as we align with new directions.
