The Coyote made her den outside my window. It’s in the hill where the earth was moved behind the house. That displaced earth became a home. I saw the pups at dawn. They were up up and out, on top of the hill. One pup glanced at me as I watched through the window. One followed the other over the top and they were out of sight.
So much life around me. So much completed and yet so much yet to do. Where to start? I don’t know, just let things happen I think. Let things happen and they do.
Tonight the rabbit was back. Rabbit made an appearance as I walked along the North path. Rabbit came out of the brush in front of me and stopped to look at me. I looked back at and he busied himself hopping she back and forth. She’s fatter I thought. Plump and happy she has made a home here. The dog doesn’t bother her. She’s unafraid and stares at me. Respect rabbit, we share this space. She turned around to show her white tail and hopped into the tall grass.
Taking a few steps towards the pine, another rabbit darts past me into the tree line. I was surprised to see another. She has a friend! I think she was smiling. A happy cottontail bringing me a message.
The apple trees are the bluebirds favorite. She flies into them, the branches a refuge. The apples are already red and falling to the ground. The deer will like them I think.
So much here, yet so much undone, to do. How will all the pieces fit together? How will it come together? I don’t know, why do I have to? Let life happen.
