Truth

When children are young they are told to tell the truth, to stand up for what is right.  Somehow, along the way, some people learn to rationalize their perceptions as truth.  They alter the truth, their own or that of others.  They create a dialogue that fits a narrative they create.

My husband always says there is little difference between the people who uphold law and those who break the law. They are humans struggling in the sea of life.

My husband and I ride motorcycles. We love to ride, go on charity runs, ride with friends and take road trips. It’s a great way to unwind and our friends who ride are social, friendly and kind.

In the past, it would bother me when people were not friendly or kind and when they lied.  I would think, “now why would they say that”?   But as I got older, I don’t care to think much about why other people do things. There are way too many variables to consider.  It’s not for me to carry their behavior. They will have to deal with and answer for themselves sooner or later.

So, I live my truth and choose not to associate with people who want to drag others into drama.  I stay on my path. I have a good life to live.

I’m a simple person.  I like when people ask me direct questions.  This way there is no misunderstanding.  If you want to know a person you have to ask them what you want to know. You have to spend time with them.

Sometimes we don’t realize how our truth can help others.  My husband and I grew up in working class families where everything was discussed openly and honestly.  I think working class families have a tendency to keep it real. It’s out of necessity, they don’t have time for anything else.

In families where shame or “sin” was attached to truth, people learned to fear vulnerability or being seen as imperfect.  It’s likely people will then struggle with truth. They may lie about themselves or others. They have learned to embrace shame and weaponize feelings.

Truth is a beautiful expression of your journey and life.  Our human experience is based on sharing, learning and connecting with others in a loving way.  This is beauty in truth.
